Our Vision

The mission of First Presbyterian Church is

To bring people into the transforming experience of Jesus Christ through worship, teaching the word, Christian nurture and fellowship, the arts, and ministry in and to the world. As Christian ministers, our members are striving to build a community reflecting God's love, justice, and mercy, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us into faithfulness.

Our vision of a church is

• which is a society of love brought into existence by God,
• whose people are sinners in need of God's forgiveness,
• which is sustained by God's amazing grace,
• whose differences and similarities are celebrated and respected,
• which understands the gifts are for giving away.

So let us dream of a church that draws its mission from

• the lordship of Jesus Christ,
• Scripture,
• the Reformed Tradition,
• the Presbyterian Church, USA,
• the rich heritage that is First Presbyterian Church of Austin.

Let us respond as a people

• gathered in worship,
• committed to the learning tradition of our faith,
• engaged in Christian fellowship,
• called to be priests to one another,
• empowered by the Holy Spirit,
• convicted by marks of joyful Christian stewardship,
• connected to sister congregations.
